CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) Codes were specially
developed by the European Union for use in public
procurement advertisements. The EU is working towards
the universal use of the CPV to help ensure that the
subject matter of contracts can be accurately identified.
The European public procurement market amounts to
well over €1,000 billion every year across the
EU and using the CPV allows potential suppliers to
easily identify and select those procurement opportunities
which are of most interest to them in any of the Member
States.

The creation of a common market for public-sector
procurement and construction contracts necessitated
Community legislation to make sure that government
contracts were open to all nationalities on equal
terms. This has made tendering procedures more transparent
so that compliance with the principles laid down in
the Treaties can be monitored and enforced. BiP Solutions'
